Don't use linear growth

  • CFO notes,
  • cards

When creating a model, it is necessary to reflect the growth of the business throughout the planning period.

The most common mistake is to assume linear growth of any parameter. However, few people ask what this growth means for the business.

The problem with linear growth is that it is only applicable to processes that have been built and fine-tuned, and it is possible to achieve this growth, and the main thing is that the team responsible for this process has a clear understanding of what needs to be done to ensure this growth.

If the process is not clear, there is no understanding of how to improve it, then for such a process linear growth is simply not possible. And then the use of linear growth will lead to accumulation of error and deviation of indicators of this process from the planned ones, and thus to failure of the whole plan. And it is enough to deviate even in one place.

Linear growth does not allow errors.
